Acute Toxicity and Mutagenicity of Siraitia grosvenorii Extract in Mice

[Objective] To study the acute toxicity and mutagenicity of Siraitia grosvenorii extract in mice. [Method]Mice stomach was irrigated with the maximum dosage in testing acute toxicity of Siraitia grosvenorii extract. The influence of Siraitia grosvenorii extract on the sign and physiology in mice after administration was observed and recorded. Autopsy and blood tests were done in mice. Micronucleus test in polychromatophil cells was performed to test mutagenicity of Siraitia grosvenorii extract. [Result] In the maximum dosage( 90 000 mg / kg),the mice had not obvious symptoms of poisoning and pathological changes of internal organs. Physiological and blood indexes was normal compared to the control group. Micronucleus test was the negative reaction. [Conclusion]The Siraitia grosvenorii extract did not show the acute toxicity and mutagenicity.
