Allegoric poetics of the “Dukedom’s Poetry” in Book of Songs

YAO Ai-bin(Dept. of Literature, Beijing Normal University, Beijing 100871, China)
Since the Song Dynasty, the controversy that if the Preface to Book of Songs wrote by Mao Heng should be maintained or not have never ceased. The scholars of Book of Songs have prevented the poetic value of the Preface by Mao Heng from being rediscovered by studying the primary meaning of Book of Songs while they criticized that the Preface concealed the primary meaning of Book of Songs. From the perspective of modern allegoric poetics, the Preface of Book of Songs set up an allegoric poetics of the ancient Chinese poetry and a series of tactics of allegorization, though his allegoric poetics has some obvious defects.
