Construction of Official Schools and Intellectual's Participation during Southern Song Dynasty

Local intellectuals began to directly participate in the building activities of official schools during the Southern Song Dynasty,and mad an impact in two ways through directly involving of capital funds and non-capital funds.The growth of intellectuals in the Southern Song Dynasty,as well as the consciousness of "the world as its mission",promoted their engagement in the construction of official schools.The lack of some local governments brought opportunities to intellectuals and different social habits also determined the participation of local intellectuals in different situations.Through different levels of participation,the intellectuals of Southern Song Dynasty get access to certain social prestige.
