Karyotype Analysis of Zebrina Pendula Schnizl

This paper present the karyotype of zebrina pendula schnizl. The numer of the somatic chromosome of Z. pendula schnizl, is 2n=24. The somatic complement showed that four chromosomes (the 1, 2th pairs) are metaccntric centromeres, six chromosomes (the 3, 4, 8th pairs) are subterminal centremeres, fourteen chromosomes (the 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12th pairs) are telocentric centromeres. No secondary constrictions and SAT-chromosomes have been seen. According to the classification systems given by Levan et al., the karyotype formula of the species is K=2n=24=4m+6st+14T. The ratio of largest to the smallest chromosomes is 2.58. the proportion of the chromosomes with the arm ratios more than 2 is 0.25. According to Stebbins karyotypic asymmetry, this species belong to "2B" type.
