PERVAPORATION SEPARATION OF WATER ETHANOL MIXTURE THROUGH PVA MEMBRANE MODIFIED BY ALKALI METAL CHLORIDE

The PVA membrane was modified by alkali metal chloride, and was used as a pervaporation membrane to separate water ehanol mixture. The results of thermal analysis indicated that the thermal stability of the membrane added with alkali metal chloride was increased. The results of the determination of swelling degree indicated that the swelling degree of the membrane was increased as the concentration of water in sorbed liquid was hightened. The results of pervaporation separation of water ethanol mixture indicated that the percentage of alkali metal chloride in the membrane had a great effect on the permselectivity of the membrane.
