Large-scale Synthesis and Photoluminescence Properties of Single-crystalline ZnO Nanowires Fabricated by a Low-temperature Chemical Vapor Deposition Method

Single-crystalline zinc oxide(ZnO) nanowires were synthesized from zinc powder and silicon oxide(SiO2) nanopowder through a simple thermal evaporation method at 650℃ in Ar atmosphere,which less 200℃-300℃ than that of thermal evaporation methods reported formerly.The nanowires have a uniform single-crystal hexagonal structure with diameters of about 40nm.The growth of ZnO nanowires is controlled by vapor-solid crystal growth mechanism.Photoluminescence measurement shows that the nanowires have a broad,strong blue emission and a UV emission.
