Preparation and Characterization of Poly(Styrene-Co-Methacrylic Acid)/Cu_2O(CuO) Microspheres

Poly(styrene-co-methacrylic acid)(poly(St-co-MAA))/Cu2O and poly(St-co-MAA)/CuO microspheres were successfully prepared by a mild condition through electrostatic interaction.The microstructures and chemical compositions of the as-obtained samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction,transmission electron microscopy equipped with selected area electron diffraction,and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.It was found that the as-prepared poly(St-co-MAA)/Cu2O microspheres with mean diameters of ca.800 nm were well dispersed,and rod-like CuO nanostructures were coated on the surface of polymer microspheres.The possible mechanism for the formation of the composites microspheres was proposed.
