Seismic Discontinuities and Seismic Anisotropy in the Upper Mantle Beneath Eastern Chinese Continent and Korean Peninsula

This paper studies seismic discontinuities and seismic anisotropy in the upper mantle beneath eastern Chinese continent and Korean peninsula by receiver functions and SKS splitting techniques.It uses broadband seismic data of earthquakes magnitude larger than 6.0 recorded by seismic stations operated by National Seismic Network of China,Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology and Ocean Hemisphere Project Network of Japan for more than three years.In Northeast China,North China and Korean Peninsula,there are large zones of shallower "410km" discontinuities and deeper "660km" discontinuities,which are related with Pacific stagnant slab.Seismic anisotropy in this zone originates from upper mantle flow,which is related with relative movement between Eurasia plate and Pacific plate.Spatial distribution of fast axes of SKS phases indicates this complicated movement pattern.
