EFFECTS OF POTASSIUM FERTILIZER ON K AND NICOTINE CONTENT OF FLUE CURED TOBACCO ON RED EARTH IN SOUTHERN ANHUI PROVINCE

The results indicated that k content in cured leaves of tobacco planting red earth increased with the potassium rate. A high significant positive correlation between water soluble K in rhizosphere soils of mature period of Flue cured tobacco and K content in cured leaves, R=0.8277(middle leaf). K application reduced Ca content in curde leaf. It could increase the ratios of K/Ca and make the burning of cured leaf better. N content in cured leaf reduced with the potassium rate increased,as well as nicotine content in cured leaf .There was hardly any affection to the sugar content in cured leaf by potassium application.
