Analysis of A Snowfall Process in Yanbian Area in May of 2018

Using Micaps live data and conventional automatic station observation data,a sleet process in Yanbian area from May 1 to 3,2018 was analyzed.The results showed that this was a typical return snowfall process.The strong convergence rise before the high-altitude trough provided stable dynamic conditions.The southwest warm airflow in front of the low-vortex system brought abundant water vapor to the Yanbian area,which was a strong precipitation.During the precipitation process,the high-altitude system moved slowly eastward,and the low-level system accelerated eastward movement.The low-level jet in the east shifted the vertical distribution of the temperature in the Yanbian area,and the precipitation phase changed.The snowfall start time corresponded to change of the wind direction in the atmosphere to the easterly wind and the wind speed increase.
