Objective To investigate the expression of ALDH1 protein in bladder cancer and its relationship with tumorigenesis and development of bladder cancer. Method 100 cases of bladder cancer tissues and 40 cases of adjacent normal tissues of bladder cancer were collected, of which the expression of ALDH1 protein was detected by immunohistochemical staining to investigate the relationship with the clinicopathological characteristics, occurrence and development of bladder cancer. Result The positive expression rate of ALDH1 protein in bladder cancer tissues(42.00%) was significantly higher than that in adjacent normal tissues(5.00%), the difference was statistically significant(P0.01); presence of vascular invasion, neural invasion, lymph node metastasis, with bladder cancer tissues of stage T2~4 were associated with significantly higher positive expression rate of ALDH1 protein compared with those without vascular invasion, neural invasion, lymph node metastasis, or without bladder cancer tissues of stage Ta~1, demonstrating significant differences(P0.05). Conclusion The positive expression level of ALDH1 protein in bladder cancer tissues increased significantly, and was correlated with the occurrence and development of tumor.
