Clinical value of microRNA-21 level in the diagnosis of non-small cell lung cancer by fiber-optic bronchoscopy

Objective To observe the expression of micro RNA-21(mi RNA-21) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) and to analyze its clinical significance. Method 80 patients with NSCLC were included as NSCLC group, meanwhile, another 80 cases with pneumonitis or tuberculosis who underwent fiber-optic bronchoscopy were recruited as control group. The level of mi RNA-21 in the two groups was observed microscopically, the level of cytokines and tumor markers of the two groups were compared, and then the correlation between mi RNA-21 level and cytokines and tumor markers in NSCLC patients was analyzed. Result The level of mi RNA-21 in the NSCLC group was(8.29±1.15), which was significantly higher than that of the control group at(1.35±0.41)(P0.001). The levels of IFN-γ, IL-1β,IL-4, IL-6 and TNF-α in NSCLC group were higher than those in the control group, with significant difference observed(P0.001). The levels of CEA, NSE and CYFRA21-1 in NSCLC group were higher than those in the control group, demonstrating statistically significant difference(P0.001). The level of mi RNA-21 in the patients with NSCLC was positively correlated with the level of cytokines which were IFN-γ、IL-1β、IL-4、IL-6、TNF-α and tumor markers of CEA, NSE,CYFRA21-1(P0.05). Conclusion The mi RNA-21 in the specimen of NSCLC patients with fiber-optic bronchoscopy is highly expressed, and is closely related to the level of cytokines and tumor markers.
