Objective To investigate the psychological status of fear of disease progression in breast cancer patients and related risk factors. Method A total of 300 female breast cancer patients were included in the analysis, of which the degree of fear of progression was investigated by questionnaire-short form(Fo P-Q-SF). The related factors of fear of disease progression in breast cancer patients after surgery were analyzed by multiple linear regression. Result In this study, the total score of fear of disease progression in breast cancer patients after surgery was(27.09±3.17) and was below average level compared with general population; as the education level and personal monthly income increased, the score of fear of disease progression in breast cancer patients after surgery was reduced(P=0.000, 0.000); while the score elevated along with the increase of age, disease duration and neoplasm staging(P=0.000, 0.000, 0.000). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the age, education backgrounds, personal monthly income, disease duration and neoplasm staging were the independent factors influencing the fear of disease progression(P0.05). Conclusion The total score of fear of disease progression in breast cancer patients after surgery is below the average level, and age, education level, personal monthly income, disease duration and neoplasm staging are related factors. Nurses should formulate more efficient and targeted intervention plan based on the characteristics of breast cancer patients after surgery, and to manage the level of fear of disease progression to improve treatment effect.
