Objective To investigate the clinical value of serum human epididymal secretory protein 4(HE4) and carbohydrate antigen 125(CA125) levels in the diagnosis of ovarian epithelial malignant tumors and its relationship with clinical characteristics. Method 60 patients with ovarian epithelial malignant tumor(malignant group) and 120 patients with benign ovarian diseases(benign group) were collected. The serum HE4 and CA125 levels of all patients were detected and the relationships of serum HE4 and CA125 in ovarian cancer with the pathological type, FIGO stage and differentiation degree were analyzed. The alone and the combination diagnostic value of the two indexes for ovarian epithelial malignant cancer were evaluated. Result The serum HE4, CA125 levels in malignant group were(161.3±48.9) pmol/L and(59.3±29.8) U/ml, which were significantly higher than those [(87.3±26.1) pmol/L,(18.4±9.0) U/ml] in benign group(P0.01). The sensitivity and specificity of serum HE4 alone in differential diagnosis of ovarian epithelial malignant cancer were 63.3% and 50.0%; the sensitivity and specificity of CA125 in differential diagnosis of ovarian epithelial malignant cancer were 53.3% and 45.8%; the sensitivity and specificity of serum HE4 and CA125 combination in the differential diagnosis of ovarian epithelial malignant cancer were 91.7% and 62.5%. The positive expression rate of serum HE4 in patients with ovarian epithelial malignant cancer was significantly related to FIGO staging and degree of differentiation(P0.05), but not related to pathological type(P0.05); serum CA125 level in patients with ovarian epithelial malignant cancer was related to pathological type, FIGO stage and degree of differentiation(P0.05). Conclusion The combined use of serum HE4 and CA125 has high value in differential diagnosis of ovarian epithelial malignant cancer, which is worthy of clinical application with higher sensitivity and specificity compared to single use of these indexes.
