Objective To investigate the effect of glutamine fortified enteral nutrition on the immune function and nutritional index of patients with advanced gastric cancer. Method The clinical data of 142 patients with advanced gastric cancer were analyzed retrospectively. Patients were divided into control group(n=71) and observation group(n=71) according to their different nutritional supports, the patients in control group received enteral nutritional suspension(TPF)as routine nutritional support and the patients in the observation group received glutamine-rich TPF as a fortified nutritional support. The differences of nutrition index, gastrointestinal hormone, immune function and the quality of life before and after nutrition treatment in the two groups were observed and compared. Result There was no difference in nutritional index, gastrointestinal hormone, immune function and the quality of life between the two groups before treatment(P0.05). After treatment, the levels of nutritional indexes in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P0.05). The levels of gastrointestinal hormones and immune indexes in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P0.01). The quality of life of the patients in the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P0.05). The 1-year survival rate of the observation group was 84.5%(60/71), which was significantly higher than that of the control group at 56.3%(40/71)(P0.01). Conclusion Enhanced nutrition support with glutamine has a good therapeutic effect on patients with advanced gastric cancer and can obviously improve the immune function and nutritional status of patients, which is worthy of clinical application.
