Application of Split-type Shear Box in Conducting the Sand Layer Shear Experiment

Shear box is generally used in conducting the in-situ shear experiment for soil.But the general shear box is a singh component,it will cause some problems during the test,for example,the stability of normal stress is easily affected by the groundwork,the shear plane glides easily and the shear stress may easily be eccentric. So a split-type shear box is adopted to conduct the in-situ shear test in order to make the stress on the shear plane uniform and ensure the shear stress to running through the center of the shear slot.The split-type shear box can also improve the stability of the specimen when the specimen is under normal load and shear load.Because of those im- provements,the split-type shear box was widely used in the sand layer shear test on Xi Xlayuan Project on Yellow River.
