Study on the Fractal Characteristics of Earth-rock Coarse Grain Based on Digital Image Processing

Considering the importance and the interaction between factors of earth-rock aggregate,the granularity dimension,coarse particle distribution dimension,coarse grain boundary dimension and porosity distribution dimension were selected as microstructure parameter index of structure parameters which were regarded as the gist of quantitative structure research of earth-rock aggregate.Based on digital image processing technic for different rock content samples of earth-rock aggregate:25%,30%,35%,50% and 70%,pictures were taken,digital image was transacted,analyzed and calculated.Coarse grain distribution dimension and boundary dimension characters and the relationships between coarse grain distribution dimension and rock content were studied.The results show that coarse grain distribution dimension of earth-rock aggregate holds a fractal feature,and its dimension ranges from 1.0 to 2.0;coarse distribution deminsion value is related to image size and divisiory part,the disposal effect of image is affected by ray,distance from camera and gray value;there are very good parabola relationship between coarse grain distribution dimension and rock content of earth-rock aggregate with good gradation and the coarse grain dimension value is close to 2.0 with accretion of rock content.Coarse grain boundary dimension holds a fractal feature,describes coarse grain shape and fluctuation degree and is corresponding to circularity degree.
