Redevelopment and Application of Visco-Elastic Artificial Boundary in ABAQUS

With earthquake excitation,the fixed boundary model without consideration of the mass of foundation will introduces nonexistent reflection seismic waves and can not simulate the real transmission of seismic waves.Based on wave motion theories and the redevelopment of ABAQUS finite element software,the development of visco-elastic elements and external waves accurate input were realized.Using visco-elastic artificial boundary to simulate external waves far field energy dissipation,the results are compared with those by fixed boundary model.The results show that the artificial boundary gives more realistic simulation of seismic wave transmission.The redevelopment of visco-elastic artificial boundary improves the feasibility of ABAQUS,which has the potential application value to promote the applicability of visco-elastic artificial boundary in the large or complex engineering.
