Calculation of Quasi-earth Pressure at Rest by the Circle of Stress

The simple earth pressure is when the surface of soil behind vertical retaining wall is horizontal and there is no lateral deformation.The earth pressures in real state is that the surface of soil or the back of retaining wall is oblique.This paper studies the earth pressure of soil with shear strain but without linear strain,which is called quasi-earth pressure.By calculation of the circle of stress,polar point and strain for the element under the lateral pressure,this paper puts forward expressions of quasi-earth pressure at rest acting upon the inclined wall.The expression mentioned above extends the calculation of earth pressure at rest and has theoretical and practical significance.
