Investigation on Impact Test of Sandstone after Thermal Effects

In order to study the fracture characteristic of sandstone after treatment by different temperatures(25 ℃,100 ℃,200 ℃,400 ℃,600 ℃,800 ℃,1 000 ℃) under shock compression loads,a series of impact experiments on sandstone samples after treatment by different temperatures are made by 100 mm SHPB(Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar) testing system.A statistical analysis on size distribution of sandstone samples is carried out by using fractal method with standard sieves.Based on the results of the analysis on the fragmentation and the energy of rock after treatment by different temperatures under impact loading,the density of energy consumption of rock fracture is calculated and the relationship between the incident energy,average fragment-size and the density of energy consumption is studied.It is illustrated that the microstructure characteristic,energy absorbency are crucial factors influencing the fracture characteristic of sandstone after treatment by different temperatures induced by impact loading.The research method and conclusions are of great importance to the design and protection of rock projects.
