An Experimental Analysis about Convection-diffusion of Pollutants in Groundwater in City Area

With the rapid development of urbanization process,the groundwater environment is affected more and more seriously by the underground space development. In this paper,with the purpose to learn the rule of the impact of urban underground space development on convection and diffusion of pollutants in groundwater for rational planning and arrangement of underground structures and regulating the water blocking characteristics of these structures and finally to have improvement of the whole urban groundwater environment. This paper ?? by way of model test and numerical checking studied the impact of permeability of permeable layer,on which the pollutants attach to and hydraulic gradient of surrounding areas on the convection and diffusion of pollutants in urban area groundwater.Based on this,four-electrode probe rods have been made. The sand was used to simulate permeable layer of groundwater. The NaCl solution with certain concentration was used to simulate the groundwater pollutant. the method of electrical resistivity was applied to measure the concentration of pollutants in groundwater in soil; through one-dimensional convection-diffusion test the solutions of diffusion coefficient,Mechanical dispersion coefficient and the flow velocity in pores were investigated,the results show that the calculated values by analytical solution agree well with test results,and the Brownian movement had more impact on solute variation of pollutant than the seepage effect when the hydraulic gradient is less than 0. 003 5.
