Improvement of Peck Formula in Subway Construction in Changchun

Gaussian equation suggested by Professor Peck is one of the most popular-used methods to predict the soft ground movement induced by shallow tunneling work.This formula is based on the measured data presented in a limited area.This paper takes a lot of ground subsidence measured data in Changchun subway tunnel foundation excavation,combined with the application of mathematical methods of least squares linear regression method.Two correction factors were introduced:the maximum surface subsidence correction coefficient α and the width of settlement trough correction factor β.As is found,curve plotted with the measured surface subsidence curve fitting formula after Peck approximate match,indicating that the use of linear regression fit the measured data of surface deformation curve to predict the formation of ground subsidence caused by metro tunnel construction is feasible.Through regression analysis,a more accurate prediction curve can be obtained when α is between 0.3~0.7 and β is between 0.6~1.0.
