On the Yellow River Dwelling Land in Northern Song Dynasty

Guo Zhian;Wang Xiaowei;Center for Studies of Song History,Hebei University;
The frequent overflowing and repeated diversions of the Yellow River in the Northern Song Dynasty objectively created a significant increase in the retreat of the Yellow River, which is also a direct result and reflection of the serious increase of the yellow river during this period. With the intensification of the people 's reclamation of the Yellow River's retreat, the government also gradually strengthened the taxation and control of the Yellow River 's retreat, and applied it to planting grass, enriching the border military reserves,appeasing the victims, and recruiting migrants. During the Northern Song Dynasty, the development of the Yellow River 's retreat to the beach experienced the rise of the Shenzong Dynasty and the Zhezong Dynasty has gradually declined. By the Huizong Dynasty, the scale was drastically reduced and it was completely reduced to the means of exploiting the people of the ruling group. The evolution of the retreat of the Yellow River from the Northern Song Dynasty is basically synchronized with the decline of Northern Song Dynasty, which is a perspective of social changes in the Northern Song Dynasty.
