Research on Regularity of Electrocutaneous Force Sensory Feedback Information for Artificial Hands

Artificial hand with mechanical and sensory functions similar to those of real hand enables the disabled to experience the se- nse of gripping force. This is the advanced development stage of artificial hands. The writers of this article have carried on experiments and research in finding out the regularity of electrical pulse stimulus on skin through contact electrodes. This article summarizes some of the results of the research which include: 1. The amplitude, frequency and waveform of electrical pulses ada- ptable for stimulus to skin; 2. The intermittent stimulus pulse series required to overcome the adaptable phenomenon; 3. The mode of stimulus representing the gripping force of the arti- ficial hand. The above mentioned results may provide the basis for the design of an electrical stimulus information generator for a myoelectrically contro- lled force sensory feedback artifrcial hand.
