Evolution and Problems in EDZ of Geological Disposal

The final option for high level waste management in china is geological disposal,which adopts the concept design of "multi-barriers"unit. During the complement of construction,the excavation damaged( disturbed) zone should be caused by excavation method and other condition changes,such as stress redistribution and temperature,therefor study on EDZ behavior properties have significant meanings on safety assessment of repertory site and design. Through investigation of EDZ study content,technical comments and key issues that need researched is as follow: features of structure and water flow in EDZ,effectiveness of EDZ sealing and mechanism of interface reaction between sealing material and surrounding rock,comprehensive evaluation method of EDZ.
