The Study on Application of Rare Earth Salt Catalyst System in DP Finishing of Cotton Fabrics

The authors aim to find a more desirable catalyst system forreducing the release of formaldehyde from fabrics and obtaining theeffects of better wrinkle recovery and strength from resin finishing. 2Dand lanthanum chloride are investigated with citric acid, aluminate ormagnesium nitrate added respectively. The results indicate that byusing the system of magnesium nitrate/lanthanum chloride addedwith small amount of glycol, formaldehyde release from unwashedfabric can be controlled below 500 ppm, while using MgCl_2 it willbe over 1000 ppm. So far as the application of rare earth salts inresin finishing is concerned, the experiments carried out by authorsare inventive.
