Chilling Tolerance Evaluation of Bitter Gourd Germplasm

The chilling tolerance of 148 bitter gourd germplasm was evaluated and the chilling tolerance and coefficients of variation of different types were compared.The results showed that 32 and 48 gemplasm possess higher tolerance to chilling tolerance with grade 3 at germinating and seedling stage,accounting for 21.62% and 32.43%,respectively.The chilling tolerance was different among different type of bitter gourd germplasm.The green,stinging wart and nearly spherical germplasm had higher chilling tolerance at germinating stage.The dark green,stinging wart and nearly spherical germplasm had higher cold tolerance at seedling stage.The chilling tolerance of bitter gourd germplasm at germinating and seedling stage had certain correlation,but not consistent.The results could provide materials for chilling tolerance breeding and chilling tolerance mechanism research.
