Dynamic simulation of the contact between drill stem and well wall

By considering the random contact and impact between drill stem and well wall for arbitrary depths and directions,ADAMS ANSYS software are used to simulate dynamically the contact between drill stem and well wall.This method displays the whole process of the contact between drill stem and well wall,and gives contact points and contact forces.It provides a reliable and practical aid for the design of drill stem construction and prediction of mechanical wear and lifetime of the drill stem.The method presented in this paper may also be adapted to the analysis of other types of system including directional well drilling and extended reach well drilling.
