Lu Houjie;
The Shanxi Merchants in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and the Republic of China Era are the collectors of the books in the history of Chinese books,but by the limitation of the literature,researchers have not fully exploited their academic connotations. Using the geographical advantage,with local literature and field survey,this paper tries to fully reveal the book collection activities and cultural contribution of Shanxi Merchants. The collection,collation,writing,engraving,donation and other activities of book collection by the Shanxi Merchants,have great significance on the preservation of traditional ancient books,the compilation of the state literature,the academic development of Shanxi,and the construction of modern library in Shanxi. The idea of "collecting for using"by Shanxi Merchants has given a big push to the shaping of business feature of"master in both scholar and merchant"and the spread of new culture in modern Shanxi.
