The fundamental feature of Taoism lies in the combination of profound philosophy with its cultivation practice. Study shows that the Precious Scrolls of folk religion in the Ming and Qing Dynasties were heavily influenced by this feature. These scrolls gradually became one of the channels through which Taoism influences the common people. There are both similarities and differences in thought cultivation between Taoism and folk religion.
