Fact and Value in Humanity and Social Sciences Research

LIU Fu-xing(School of Education,BNU,Beijing 100875,China)
The relationship between value and fact is the kernel content of research methodology in humanity and social sciences.Practice Philosophy attempts to fill up the gap between value and fact;the opposition and contentions between scientism and humanism, and the pursuit of scientificality by humanistic and social sciences, all have provided problem domains and background for our discussing the relationship between value and fact. From the historic point of view, the relationship in between is an eternal topic. It is impossible for people to solve this problem completely. The key issue should lie in what kind of attitudes, rules and methodologies one adopts. In the research of philosophy and humanistic-social sciences, some emphasize the value side, others hold the subjectivity principle, and still others aim to unite the two.But in reality,value-neutrality does not exist for humanistic and social researches. We should rather have a dialectic view of the two.
