Continuity and Unitedness of History Development:Against Hegel's Misunderstanding of Chinese History

It is widely agreed that the Chinese history has its continuation and unitedness.This point Hegel acknowledged too,but he denied that the Chinese history has ever developed at all,and even claimed that it was "a history of non-history".Moreover,he held a negative view towards the fact that the unitedness of China is that of a multivariate whole,and contended that the Chinese history was "an abstract unification".He therefore distorted the Chinese history.The present paper is oriented to analyzing and hence refuting such views.First of all,Hegel's prejudice lies in his ideological system of the world history,namely,human history began from the East and ended in the West,along which the eastern world(represented by China) should be at the childhood stage,while the Greek world the youth time,the Roman world the adulthood,and the Germanic world the old or mature age.Here he assigned an infancy role to China,which would never make any progress.That is no doubt a warping of the reality.Secondly,it is a must to see the definitions and interrelations of the concepts 'successiveness' and 'unification'.That is,on the condition of accepting Hegel's idea that advancement contains negation,we must also differentiate the qualitative changes of a society from civilization breakdown.Hegel's ignorance of the civilization breakdown of Greece,Roman and German,and hence phrasemaking the world history,is merely due to his world 'spirit' that develops successively in alternative time and space.Nevertheless,the history of his world 'spirit' is in fact not a true world history.Thirdly,society and history,according to Karl Marx,is formed in terms of people's multiple communications and relations.It is the communication and conflicts of the crossrange synchronicality that have propelled the successive development of the longitudinal diachronicality;and it is the outcome of such development that sets the precondition for each social communication.The world history and the successiveness and unification of the Chinese civilization advancement are hence formed in such relations.
