Synthesis of aromatic aldehyde and ketone thiosemicarbazones in aqueous solution under ultrasound irradiation

Aim To obtain the best condition for synthesis of thiosemicarazones in water under ultrasound irradiation,and develop new ultrasound technologies for organic synthesis.Methods A serials of thiosemicarbazones were synthesized by utilizing aromatic aldehyde,aromatic ketone and thiosemicarbazide in aqueous solution under ultrasound irradiation.The optimum reaction conditions were selected(P=250 W,t=8~15 min).Results Twelve thiosemicarbazones were synthesized by using this method.The structures of the products were confirmed by elemental analysis,IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy.Conclusion The main advances of this methodology are rapid reaction rate,high yield,convenient manipulation and eco-friendly environment.
