Editorial Thoughts of Shanghai's Comic Magazine(1934-1937)

During the early and middle 1930 s, publishing boom has produced comic magazines with great influence such as Modern Sketch and Comic Life in Shanghai. With relative experience drawn from western magazines and awareness of China's national crisis, Shanghai's comic magazines raised the awareness of standing up for the people as well as exploring avant-garde aesthetics. This article focuses on historical facts of comic magazines' editorial process, traces magazines' editorial thoughts of how did the comic magazines play an active part in both critical and artistic spheres.
