Analysis and assessment of reactive blood donors with HBV infection in Yili,Xinjiang

Objective To improve confirmatory screening tests and the research on reentry strategies,in order to protect the rights of blood donors. Methods A total of 22,287 blood samples were screened for HBV with ELISA and TMA nucleic acid detection purchased from different manufacturers. If either was positive,the sample would be sent to the Institute of Transfusion Medicine for a neutralization test. According to the result,the samples would be tracked and tested. Results Of all 22,287 cases that underwent serological detection,75 positive samples were screened and 30 were affirmative in the following test,the rest of the 45 samples were negative. Of the 75,57 were tracked every 2 months and the remaining 18 samples were permanently deferred. Conclusion Majority of blood donors should be reentered due to the high rates of false positives.
