Objective To investigate the current status of residents' knowledge-attitude-practice on blood donation and to underline the influencing factors of blood donation behavior to provide theoretical basis for the formulation of improved recruitment strategies. Methods A total of 883 community residents were investigated by means of random sampling. The questionnaire consisted of demographic variables, blood donation knowledge/attitude and actual behaviors. Results Six factors possessed significant influence on the blood donation behavior in the univariate analysis( P 0. 05). Logistic regression analysis showed that education status( College/undergraduate),education status( graduate and above),attitude and knowledge presented positive effects on blood donation behavior while marital status( unmarried),gender, marital status( others)showed negative effects on blood donation behavior( P0. 05). Conclusion The better educated populations should be the primary target for blood donation recruitment. We should also take families as the basic unit to carry out publicity work. The publicity content should be composed of the preferential policy and the elimination of disease transmission in the donation process.
