Research on Jade-like Glass

GU Yong-cheng(Wuxi Institute of Arts & Technology,Yixing 214206,China)  
Colored and lustrous jade-like glass can be obtained by adding an appropriate amount of opacifier Na2SiF6 into basic glass.Composition of the basic glass,addition amount of opacifier Na2SiF6,addition amount of Al2O3 and CaO,glass melting temperature and time,etc.have significant effects on the properties of jade-like glass.The production process will also affect the performance of the jade-like glass.Adding ionic colorant,especially rare-earth ionic colorant,into the jade-like glass can make splendid colored jade-like glass.
