Study on Structure and Properties of TiO_2-Doped SiO_2-Al_2O_3-CaO-MgO High Strength Glass Fiber

Si O_2-Al_2O_3-Ca O-Mg O high-strength glass fiber was prepared by high temperature melting method and doped with TiO_2. The structure and properties of the glass were studied by means of FT-IR,XRD and SEM. The results show that the glass density increases rapidly first and then slowly with increase of content of doped TiO_2; the dielectric constant of the glass appears a maximum value,while the dielectric loss of the glass appears a minimum value; the tensile strength and elongation at break point of the glass fibers increase first and then decrease. XRD and SEM examinations show that TiO_2-doped glass fibers neither increase the crystallization tendency nor affect their drawing processes.
