INVERSTIGATION ON SURFACE CRYSTALLIZATION OF CaO-Al_2O_3-SiO_2 GLASS CERAMICS

The crystallization thermodynamics of CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 glass ceramics was investigated by differential thermal analysis (DTA) , X-ray diffraction (XRD) , scanning electron microscope (SEM) . The activation energy for crystallization on the surface of the glass ceramics was calculated and the optimal parameters for heat treatment was also obtained . The principle crystalline phase is (3-wollastonite which takes the shape of needle and the crystal grows from surface to heart . As the crystal size reduces the number of crystals increases and the volume decrease .
