Study on Accumulation of Lead in Soil by Microbes

Four fungi,three bacteria and two actinomyces were separated from soil contaminated with lead around the lead factories and the strains with lead tolerance and accumulation were discovered.With primary identification,the strain with the highest Pb accumulation ability was identified to Penicillium sp..With co-culture with soil,the effect of accumulation to soluble Pb of Penicillium was studied at different contact times.The results showed that the content of Pb in the tested soil decreased with the extending of culture time of Penicillium in 500 mg/kg initial concentration of Pb at 28 ℃.The content of soluble Pb had become to decrease remarkably when Penicillium was cultured for 24 hours.The maximum accumulation rate was 96.54% after 72 hours,with 121.75 mg/kg soluble Pb still in soil.Then the content of soluble Pb was steady after 96 hours.The results indicated that Penicillium sp.was a suitable biosorbent for removing Pb from soil.
