WEAR RESISTANCE OF CERAMIC OXIDATION COATINGS DEPOSITED BY MICROARC DISCHARGE ON LY12 ALLOY

The ceramic coatings of 230()μm thick are prepared by microarc discharge on LY12 aluminum alloy, and their tribological behaviors under different conditions are tested. After the alloy is coated, its wear resistance is improved over three orders of magnitude. Under dry sliding against WC ball, the lowest wear rate is less than 3.29×10~(-7 )mm~3·N~(-1)·m~(-1). During friction test, one part of the WC ball counter is transferred to the surface of coatings, which takes advantage of decreasing the wear rate.
