CRYSTAL STRUCTURE OF RED LUMINESCENT COMLEX OF Eu(NO_3)_3(Phen)_2

The red luminescent complex Eu(NO_3)_3(Phen)_2 (Phen: 1,10-phenanthroline) was synthesized, its crystal structure was measured. The complex crystallizes in monoclinic, space group C_c(#7). The cell dimensions are a=1.116()12 nm, b=1.796()3(4) nm, c=1.304()23 nm, α=90.00(0)°, β=100.573°, (γ=90.00(0)°), V=2.570()4(9) nm~(3), Z=4 and D_c=1.805()g·cm~(-3). The final R is 0.029()3. Each Eu~(3+) ion is ten coordinated by six oxygen atoms of three NO~-_3 anions and four nitrogen atoms of two Phen molecules, resulting in seriously distorted bicapped square antiprism, or bicapped square top-butter-fly-shape bottom twisted prism.
