Finite element simulation and calculation analysis on the straightening and deformation of heavy rail finite element

The straightening process of heavy rail was simulated and researched by finite element software of ANSYS/LS-DYNA.The residual stresses of the rail head,rail base and rail loin in each deformation zone meet the real straightening condition.The calculation indicates that the above mentioned residual stresses in various deformation zone vary significantly in the form of tensile-compression-tensile similar to that of sine curve.
