Objective: To study the relationship between selenoprotein P( Sepp1) and diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Methods: A total of 100 subjects with newly onset diabetes and 100 subjects with non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases( 100 control people) were enrolled. Plasma level of Sepp1 was measured by ELISA and compared between the two groups, the regular indices such as glucose and fattiness tested as well. Results: The Sepp1 level was significantly higher in type 2 diabetes mellitus and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease than in control group[( 3. 05 ± 1. 20),( 4. 42 ± 1. 80) vs( 2. 33 ± 2. 30) mmol/L,both P 0. 05]. Conclusion: Serum Sepp1 level is likely to be related to type 2 diabetes mellitus and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
