In the forming process of New Year pictures, religion makes a great influence on them, especially the Taoist in China. Because the Suzhou′s craftsmen of Taohuawu New Year pictures moved in,New Year pictures were all the rage in the Jiuxiaochang district in Shanghai. Then Year pictures were integrated into the Shanghai style, and gradually formed special Shanghai Jiuxiaochang pictures. At that time, most New Year pictures were handpainted or board-engraving,which has a close relationship with woodcut. Nowadays, most New Year pictures are printed matter.
