Research on Surface Defect Extraction of Printing Roller Based on Adaptive Canny Operator

Printing roller as the core components of printing machinery.It often causes the partial collapse or spot because of the corrosion of the roller due to the use of acidic ink, alcohol and other chemical raw materials. The edge of the surface of the metal roller is one of the main features of the defect image. Applying the appropriate edge detection operator to obtain the accurate edge information is the key step in the image processing of the metal cylinder. Aiming at the problem of false edge in edge detection of traditional Canny operator, the maximum interclass variance method is used to derive the high and low thresholds of adaptive Canny operator. Firstly, the improved Canny operator is used to detect the edge, and the edge information is obtained. Then, the defect is positioned and vectorized.The experimental results show that the adaptive Canny operator has better edge connectivity and high positioning accuracy than the traditional edge detection method. This method can quickly extract the surface defects of the drum and have a strong effect on the surface defects of the Printing roller.
