Objective:To study how to improve recovery of functional defect and decrease maimed rate after decompression for spinal cord injury.Methods:128 patients who were in recovering period after spinal canal decompression for spinal cord injury were randomly divided into two groups,test group (68 patients)and control group(60 patients).Results:The cured rate(20 6 percent)and effective rate(97 1 percent)in the test group treated by hyperbaric oxygen were remarkably higher than those in the control group( P 0 05).Conclusion:Hyperbaric oxygen is an effective method for improvement of functional defect in patients after decompression for spinal cord injury,which has many advantages such as short course and low maimed rate.
