Numerical Computation of Added Mass of Submarine Maneuvering with S mall Clearance to Sea-bottom

A computation program for calcula ting added mass of an arbitrary three dimensional body maneuvering with a small clearance to sea bottom is developed by the Hess Smith method. The program′s reliability has been certified by comparison with the theoretically calculated added mass of ellipsoid. The comparison shows that results of this program coinc ide with theoretical data. In the program, submarine and its bottom boundary are partitioned into cells by use of MSC-Patran software. The added mass of a subm arine maneuvering with various bottom clearances, different pitching angles and elevations from sea bottom is calculated and treated,and thereby, a variation l ay of inertial hydrodynamics of the submarine is gained. Finally, a variation la y of the added mass is induced.
