Study on the Synthesis of Bisphenol-A Polyarylester with Chloro Substituted Mesogens by Phase Transfer Catalysis Technique

Bisphenol-A polyarylesters with chloro substituted mesogens were synthesised by interfacial polycondensation of terepththaloyl chloride(TPC),2,5-dichloroteraphthaloyl chloride(DCC)and bisphenol-A (BPA) in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst. Effect of the amount of catalyst, the amount of sodium hydroxide and composition of the momoners on polycondensation was investigated. The copolymers were characterized by infrared spectroscopy (IR),X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),ther-mogravimetry(TG) ,etc. It is shown that melting temprrature (Tm) and crystallinities of the copolymers de-crease with increasing of mole ratios of DCC to TPC. The copolymers have excellent heat-resistance.
