Spectra Analysis on Diluted Magnetic Semiconductor Zn_(1-x) Co_xS

Based on the 3d electron's radial wave function of Co 2+ free ion, this paper investigates the Nephelauxetic effects in Zn 1-x Co xS crystal theoretically, introduces a Nephelauxetic effect factor κ,and then gains the 3d electron's optimal radial wave function of Co 2+ ion in the Zn 1-x Co xS crystal. With the optimal radial wave function, the spectra of crystal had been calculated, the results show that: by using the crystal field theory and considering the modification of the Nephelauxetic Effects, it is not only easy but also efficient to study the spectra properties of the diluted magnetic semiconductors. Furthermore, we provide reasonable explanations for the Nephelauxetic effects from the basis of physics.

But the results by applying the Nephelauxetic-Effect modifying factor to modify the radial wave functions are much closer to the experimental values. Furthermore, when high-pressure problems are concerned, it is much convenient to use the Nephelauxetic-Effect method.
